  1. Sparkle 2.3.2 A mac-look-and-feel MPEG and QT player and converter.

  3. This should replace Sparkle 2.3.1 in the info-mac archives.
  4. Changes are:
  5. * Misc minor bug fixes.
  6. * MPEG/QT encoding can now be done either time based or frame by frame.
  7. * Bug fixes to the MPEG Splitter and MPEG2 decoder.

  9. Also in this package are a VERY rough quick and dirty port of some unix 
  10. MPEG-2 decoding code. This will allow you to see what's in an MPEG2 file 
  11. and save the result as a QT movie. Of course at some point this support 
  12. will be rolled into Sparkle but I'd like to do sound first.
  13. Be patient with this programs---in particular when it starts up, it 
  14. may sit for a minute or so looking like it's frozen before anything 
  15. starts happening. This program is based on code by Chad Fogg and the 
  16. MPEG Software Simulation Group.

  18. Also in this package is a VERY rough quick and dirty port of a 
  19. unix MPEG demuxer. This will split a muxed MPEG file (one containing 
  20. both audio and video) into separate audio and video files. This program
  21. is based on code by Rainer Menes.

  23. This version of Sparkle
  24. * has very limited AppleScript support. Probably not yet useful, but 
  25.   that'll change soon.
  26. * does not support online help
  27. These are all high priorities, pretty much in that order.

  30. WHAT IS IT?
  31. Sparkle plays MPEGs, PICTs and QT movies and converts between them. It is
  32. multifinder friendly and, with enough memory, will open multiple 
  33. documents at once.
  34. It is free.

  36. REQUIRES: 
  37. Sparkle is no longer supported on systems less that 7.5. If you refuse 
  38. to upgrade to 7.5, the enclosed docs will tell you the list of 
  39. extensions you need to get for Sporkle to work, but I do not have 
  40. time to help you track these down.

  42. You can ftp Sparkle from sumex-aim.stanford.edu (or a mirror like 
  43. mrcnext.cso.uiuc.edu) in info-mac/grf/util.
